Florida Adventures FAQs

Covid-19 info

In light of Covid-19, the total group size will be 15 people or less, and the itinerary has been changed to reduce exposure to large crowds and circumstances where 6 feet of distance is difficult to maintain.  Participants will receive more detailed information on the steps we are taking (as well as steps they should take) to reduce the risk of transmission or contraction of the novel coronavirus.

Is lodging and food provided?

Yes! Your program fee includes lodging, food, as well as all local travel and programming costs. In Florida participants stay at a beautiful facility called Teen Missions, just south of Titusville.

What should I pack?

While this is Florida, and you should always bring a swimsuit, hat, sunglasses, and ocean-friendly sunscreen, don’t forget rain gear and a sweater. A detailed packing list will be sent to you after you register.

I am flying to Florida. Where should I arrive?

Titusville is conveniently close to both MCO (Orlando International Airport) and SFB (Sanford International Airport), and we recommend choosing either of those. We will do our best to help you rideshare with other participants to/from the airport when you arrive and when you depart. We do not recommend that you rent a car, but talk to us if you plan to do so.

How much does an A Rocha Adventure cost?

Each trip varies slightly, depending on duration and specific activities; however, the cost is usually around $2000, which includes all food, lodging, local travel and programming.

What wildlife or other cool things can I expect to see?

Titusville is close to NASA and the Kennedy Space Center, so it is possible to watch a rocket launch. The Indian River Lagoon is home to manatees, dolphins, millions of birds, and bioluminescent plankton and comb jelly. In the summer, you can see the bioluminescent plankton and in the winter, you can find the comb jellies. Also in the summer, you may witness a sea turtle laying eggs in the middle of the night. In the fall you could see the baby turtles emerging from their nests. And, of course, you can see alligators in freshwater.

I have a question. How do I get in touch?

Please email us at florida@arocha.org and we’ll answer any questions you have.

Baja Adventures FAQs

Covid-19 info

In light of Covid-19, the total group size will be 15 people or less, and the itinerary has been changed to reduce exposure to large crowds and circumstances where 6 feet of distance is difficult to maintain.  Participants will receive more detailed information on the steps we are taking (as well as steps they should take) to reduce the risk of transmission or contraction of the novel coronavirus.

Is lodging and food provided?

Yes! Your program fee includes lodging, food, as well as all local travel and programming costs. In Baja participants stay in shared rooms at CasaBuena B&B (www.cblapaz.com) in La Paz.

What should I pack?

You should always bring a swimsuit, hat, sunglasses, and ocean-friendly sunscreen, don’t forget rain gear and a sweater. A detailed packing list will be sent to you after you register.

I am flying to La Paz. Where should I arrive?

We recommend arriving at La Paz’s airport (LAP). American Airlines has flights direct to La Paz from Phoenix and Dallas.

We will do our best to help you rideshare with other participants to/from the airport when you arrive and when you depart. We do not recommend that you rent a car but talk to us if you plan to do so.

It is possible to travel via Cabo San Lucas, but bus transport is an additional expense and travel to La Paz is the responsibility of the individual.

What wildlife or other cool things can I expect to see?

The ecosystems of Baja California are dry and desert-like, with amazing coastal scenery, including dramatic cliffs and rocky outcroppings. Our focus will be on the ocean, and wildlife that may be observed include colorful fish, rays, eels, coral, whale sharks, dolphins, and sea lions.

What skills do I need to participate?

It’s helpful to have some experience in kayaking and snorkeling. At a minimum, you must be comfortable in the ocean. There may be opportunities to dive for those SCUBA certified with more than 30 dives, at least 2 of which in the last 12 months.

I have a question. How do I get in touch?

Please email us at florida@arocha.org and we’ll answer any questions you have.
