A Rocha has long been involved in bird conservation. Our first project began in the 1980’s at a field study center in Portugal where scientists, students, and volunteers monitored bird migration. Protecting birds and their habitats continues to be an important element of A Rocha’s work around the world.
As of 2017, over 1,300 bird species are under threat, with a total of 197 that are Critically Endangered on the brink of extinction. We can all do something to help the birds where we live. Each month during 2018, we will share the Year of the Bird call to action—a simple but meaningful way to help birds.
