Climate Stewards began in the UK in 2007 as a carbon offset program of A Rocha International, becoming its own nonprofit organization not long after. Carbon offsets fund livelihood, environment, and human health improvements in A Rocha organization communities, providing a sustainable way to address the inequalities of climate change while reducing emissions.
Currently, Climate Stewards develops and funds projects in Kenya, Uganda, Peru, Nepal, Tanzania, and Ghana. Calculate your carbon footprint and consider offsetting at the Climate Stewards USA website.
Climate Stewards USA is a program of A Rocha USA.

FAQs
Why isn’t Brian going to run Climate Caretakers any more?
CC has always been, and will continue to be, an important outlet for Brian’s passion for climate action. However, as his opportunities and responsibilities have grown at Houghton College, he can no longer give adequate time to running Climate Caretakers. He began looking for a new “home” for Climate Caretakers in summer 2020. Brian is now the Founder and Director Emeritus of Climate Caretakers, and he will retain his email address, [email protected].
What will Brian be doing at Houghton?
For the past 9 years Brian has been the Sustainability Coordinator, and now Director of the Center for Sustainability, at Houghton College. The college just recently added a new Environmental Studies academic program, which he will be teaching in regularly.
Why is A Rocha USA interested in Climate Caretakers?
Brian approached us in his search for an organization to take over and continue the mission of Climate Caretakers. Given our high regard for him and the work of Climate Caretakers, we felt it very appropriate to help sustain the Climate Caretakers community. Climate Caretakers’s practical approach for responding to climate change fits exceptionally well with A Rocha’s commitment to conservation action. Climate Caretakers brings prayer and action resources to the table, which will help all of us care for creation.
What is Climate Stewards USA, and how does it relate to Climate Caretakers transition?
Climate Stewards (CS) began in the UK in 2007 as a carbon offset program of A Rocha International, becoming its own nonprofit organization not long after. Carbon offsets fund livelihood, environment, and human health improvements in A Rocha organization communities, providing a sustainable way to address the inequalities of climate change while reducing emissions. Climate Stewards USA is a program run by A Rocha USA specifically for Americans.
Climate Caretakers will become part of the DNA of CSUSA, providing a framework for carbon lifestyle reduction and climate crisis prayer.
How long will the transition process take?
Climate Caretakers will continue operating normally under a transition team, which includes Brittany Michalski and Brian Webb, until June 2021. Thereafter, Climate Stewards USA will formally be the new brand of Climate Caretakers.
Will I still be a part of Climate Caretakers?
Until June 2021, yes! After that, you are very welcome to continue your climate action with Climate Stewards USA. We will be soliciting input from the Climate Caretakers community to ensure we move forward in wisdom and with care.
I’d like to provide input, where can I do that?
We will host a number of listening sessions via Zoom, and the meeting credentials will be shared via the Climate Caretakers newsletter. We also welcome you to email Brittany with any questions, concerns, or ideas you may have.
I’d like to be involved with this new combined program. How can I do that?
Calculate your carbon footprint, and consider both reducing your emissions and offsetting with Climate Stewards USA.
Pray with us for the climate crisis by signing up for the Climate Caretakers newsletter. After June 2021 the name may change, but the regular, specific opportunities to pray will not.
