2020 In Review

Dear Friends,

Thank you for faithfully walking with us this past year. Because of your support, our team has been able to continue restoring people and places—even amidst the challenges we are all facing.

And yet we’re hearing from you that the work of A Rocha is more important than it ever has been. As Christian communities deepen their understanding of the ways biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation harm both people and planet, many are seeking ways to live out their faith alongside a community that shares their environmental convictions.

We have been honored to provide resources and a community for Christians to come together in care for all of God’s creation, and we are excited to see them more deeply love and care for the places they live.

This year in the United States, we saw incredible growth in our Marine Conservation Program, including plastic pollution research, educational opportunities, and habitat conservation—from Southern California to the Great Lakes to Florida.

Texas A Rocha is growing foundational relationships and beginning to craft community-based initiatives, especially around protecting the night sky and the wildlife that depend upon it.

We’re also celebrating one year of Love Your Place, where we’ve provided tools and resources to over 200 people who want to live out their theological and ecological convictions together in community.

As we look to 2021, we’re looking forward to bringing Climate Stewards—A Rocha’s carbon offsetting program—to the US, and we’re excited to continue partnering with Duke Divinity School to provide more opportunities for students to integrate faith and creation care. We’ll also be launching the full four-year suite of Wild Wonder, our camp curriculum that teaches kids about God and nature.

Along with moving through all of this year’s challenges, the worldwide A Rocha family is still grieving last October’s tragic accident in Port Elizabeth, South Africa that claimed the lives of A Rocha International leaders Miranda Harris and Chris and Susanna Naylor.

While their loss has left a tremendous void, we are deeply thrilled to welcome Dr. Simon Stuart as the new Executive Director of A Rocha International.

We are grateful for your support as we step into this new chapter. None of this work would be possible without you. We are honored to partner with you in restoring people and places.

And, thanks to a generous matching fund, your year-end gift will be matched up to $20,000 between now and December 31, 2020. You can give today at arocha.us/donate.

We wish you all the best this Christmas season and into the New Year.

Blessings,
